I found myself walking by beautiful street art in Rio de Janeiro on my way to Ipanema beach each day.
In need of a reprieve from the brutal Texas summers I like to escape to someplace cooler.
One year I decided to search the Southern Hemisphere for an exotic getaway and took myself on a solo trip to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
The flight was around nine hours from Dallas.
Because it was an overnight flight so I was able to sleep most of the way there and home.
Following are some photographs of the street art around Rio de Janeiro.

There is some phenomenal street art in Rio and this photo was taken in Ipanema which is adjacent to the 4 km (2.5 miles) stretch of beach known as Copacabana.
Walking the beach every morning I enjoyed watching the surfers ride the waves.
On the way to and from the beach I took photographs of the amazing street art murals in the area.

I hope you get a chance to visit Rio de Janeiro Brazil too and hopefully you see some amazing graffiti and street art.
To see more street art around Rio visit the Praca Maua neighborhood and spend some time admiring the huge mural by Eduardo Kobra. The mural held the Guinness World Record for the largest mural graffiti in the world, at 560 feet long.
Now Kobra and his team created an even larger mural but you’ll have to take a trip to Sao Paulo for this one. At the chocolate company Cacau Show headquarters in Sao Paulo you can see the enormous mural painted in the form of a chocolate bar.
