The Ponce de Leon Lighthouse & Park are NOT in New Smyrna Beach- they are across the Inlet in a town called Ponce Inlet. To drive you must go out to US 1 north, take the Dunlawton Bridge, go south on A1A. Obviously if you have a boat you can cross the Halifax near the Inlet & dock at one of the marinas but it's definitely not in New Smyrna 😉

Susan, Thanks for your comment. A couple of other readers also pointed that out to me and I did change the title at the top of the post to 15 Best Things to Do New Smyrna Beach + Near NSB. The reason I include attractions near NSB is because a lot of people are interested in doing day trips from New Smyrna, also it's good to know places to stop along the way to/from NSB. Cheers, Susan Moore

Ponce Inlet lighthouse is not in New Smyrna Beach and you can't go there from the beach, you have to drive north on us1 to Port Orange cross the Dunlawton bridge and then go south on A1A to Ponce Inlet. Technically it's a nearby attraction. Side note, you can see it from our inlet in New Smyrna Bch. without traveling to the site, you just can't get to it without a boat from the inlet.

Ann Vetter, Thank you for commenting. Yes, even though Ponce Inlet Lighthouse looks so close to New Smyrna it is a short (and scenic) drive away to Ponce Inlet. I didn’t want to include it as a day trip because it’s so close, but I think I’ll change the title of the article to reflect things to do in NSB and “near NSB”. Cheers, Susan

As a part-time snowbird resident of NSB, I really appreciated the info on easy day trips from there. We're definitely getting an annual pass to Kennedy space center next year so we can take our time exploring, and bring guests

Daniel, Thanks for your comment. Yes, this post focuses on things to do in and near New Smyrna Beach because when people are looking for a beach town in Florida for vacation they are often interested in driving to nearby attractions for day trips or looking for interesting places to stop on the way there. But I see your point that all 15 things are not within NSB. Cheers, Susan
