Hiking

Here you will find solo hiking trip reviews, tips, gear options, advice for hiking alone and adventure travel options for the solo traveler.

I’ve done a lot of hiking near my hometown of Calgary Alberta. Click the links below for all the hiking blog posts for each area.

Banff hikes

Jasper hikes

Kananaskis hikes

If you drive to southern Alberta you can visit Waterton Lake National Park and continue down to Montana to explore Glacier National Park – lots of great hiking options!

When I visited Nova Scotia my favorite hike, even better than Skyline Trail in Cape Breton, was the amazing Gaff Point hike at Hirtle’s Beach in the South Shore region of Nova Scotia.

In Texas the best hiking is at Big Bend National Park. Check out my favorite trails for hiking solo at Big Bend here. Another great hike in Texas is Enchanted Rock – it’s a huge boulder out in the hill country of central Texas.

If you want to learn more about hiking solo and some of the survival skills you may need to rely on if you get lost on a hiking trip, this post will help you learn the basics.
